Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What is the difference between Dragon NaturallySpeaking preferred and Dragon NaturallySpeaking professional?

This is a question we get almost daily here at voicerecognition.com. The Preferred version of Dragon NaturallySpeaking was designed specifically for home and personal use. It has the same speech recognition engine as the professional series but lacks many of the features that are important in a work environment. The professional version of Dragon NaturallySpeaking contains macro support for voice shortcuts which can be extremely helpful when filling out lengthy forms and other documents. Also, the professional series software has a much larger and more specific vocabulary for the environment you work in and works in several applications that are not available with Dragon NaturallySpeaking preferred. 2. What is the best digital recorder for use with Dragon NaturallySpeaking?

Digital recorder quality has greatly improved recently and there are two digital recorders that we highly recommend for use with Dragon NaturallySpeaking. The Sony BM-1 and the Olympus DS-2200 are both excellent recorders due to the high sampling rate that each reporter features. When looking for a digital recorder that will work well with Dragon NaturallySpeaking, look for a sampling rate of 12 kHz or faster as this will provide a higher-quality sound file to Dragon NaturallySpeaking for more accurate transcription when you use a digital recorder for mobile dictation. Not long ago, the best you could hope for with a digital recorder was around 92% accuracy. By using the newer were digital recorders mentioned above, you can easily obtain accuracy up to 98%. This is only a 1% accuracy loss from dictation straight through a headset microphone connected to a computer sound card.

  3. What type of speed and accuracy can expect when using Dragon NaturallySpeaking voice recognition software?

If you have seen or used with recognition software in the past, you may remember voice training taking several hours, results that were less than satisfactory and a very slow transcription process. Things have changed a great deal in the last few years and now Dragon NaturallySpeaking can easily provide up to 99% accuracy and speeds between 140 and 160 words per minute. Training takes only 10 to 15 minutes and as computers have become faster and more powerful this also results in faster and even more accurate transcription by using nothing more than your voice. 4. Who are the best candidates for voice recognition software?

The simple answer is everyone! Anyone who uses a PC for e-mail, document creation, filling out forms or who wants to control PC operations entirely by voice is the perfect candidate for using voice recognition software. Anyone with a repetitive stress injury, carpal tunnel syndrome or for anyone who wants to avoid problems with hands or wrists in the future, Dragon NaturallySpeaking provides a perfect hands-off solution. We truly believe that one day voice and pope will replace keyboard and mouse but until that day arrives, you can be a pioneer in the voice arena by using Dragon NaturallySpeaking at home or at work any time you would normally use keyboard and mouse.

  5. Why buy from VoiceRecognition.com?

Quite simply, because we support what we sell. As a smaller company we offer
a level of support you rarely find with larger corporations. We take pride
in the fact that all calls during business hours are answered by a live
representative, not voicemail. If you have a question or need help with
installation, training or improving accuracy we have live and web based
    support options available.

We would appreciate the opportunity to do business with you, but if you buy
elsewhere, just be sure to ask what kind of support comes along with that
great bargain price you may have received. Ask about turn around time on
technical support calls, ask if they even offer support after a sale, and
ask if your PC meets or exceeds the minimum software requirements.

We want to hear from you. Call or email us today with questions or comments,
or to tell us about a product you'd like to see offered on our site.
